The 5 Second Rule

Mel Robbins

Robbins's rule is mechanical, not motivational: the instant you feel the instinct to act, count backward five-four-three-two-one and physically move on 'one,' before your brain constructs a reason not to. The premise is that hesitation is a habit, interruptible with a simpler habit. Book 3's Chapter 2 uses the countdown as the trigger that converts commitment into motion in the exact moment fear would reassert the default.
