ProductivityDecision Making
The 80/20 Principle
Richard Koch
Koch generalizes Pareto's asymmetry across business, time, and habits: roughly 20% of inputs produce 80% of outputs, and the ratio applies recursively. Book 3's Chapter 3 uses it as the filter clause for shipping at 70%: perfect the vital few, ship everything else at a lower bar, because perfectionism applied evenly is waste. The book returns as a supporting source in Chapter 5's attention-guarding argument.
